Technique of modulation and demodulation based on multi-carrier and multi chirp-basis

Abstract

The multi-band chirp-BOK modulation is based on chirp signal, which has problem of non-related items self-interference in traditional detection scheme which is matching filtering method(MF). The MF has lower bit error rate performance in the case of a larger number of sub-bands or smaller chirp-based bandwidth. This paper established a mathematical model with multi-band chirp signals and proposed a simple modulation workflow based on the model, it could use the least square(LS) method to solve the self-interference problem of matched filter. LS method could provide a better SNR gain compared with the MF. Further, it proposed a multi-band multi-chirp-based modulation technique(MMCM) by analyzing the multi-band chirp-BOK technique. MMCM technology could flexibly adjust the relationship between code rate and spread-spectrum gain. MMCM had the same frequency band utilization as OFDM technology with spread spectrum gain of 0 dB. For the case that the number of source groups of MMCM is J and the time-bandwidth product is P, the system processing gain is P/J.
