Abstract

This paper proposed a fast and efficient weighted clustering algorithm. It addressed long network setup time, high maintenance costs, and slow recovery in self-organizing networks of high-speed aircraft. The algorithm improved three metrics: average inter-node distance, average movement similarity, and node degree. It optimized the networking process to reduce setup time caused by gradient suppression. An efficient backup cluster head election and cross-layer notification mechanism lowered maintenance costs. A rapid response switching mechanism for cluster members handled slow responses during sudden cluster head failures. Simulations with OPNET software showed significant improvements in setup time, control overhead, and recovery time compared to existing algorithms. Simulation results indicate that the algorithm improves network performance. It is more suitable for self-organizing networks of high-speed aircraft in complex environments.
