Blockchain multi-chain storage model for industrial Internet of Things

Abstract

A key issue of the Industrial Internet of Things data storage is ensuring the large volume of data generated by devices and sensors in the environment is stored and processed in real-time, while preventing unauthorized access, tampering, or misuse of the data. Blockchain has features of traceability and tamper-resistance, making it suitable for secure data storage and sharing in Industrial Internet of Things. However, problems such as low throughput and poor scalability are existing. To address these issues, we propose a blockchain multi-chain storage model tailored for the Industrial Internet of Things. Firstly, we propose multiple blockchains to process data in parallel, with different blockchains defining distinct datasets to achieve physical isolation of data. Secondly, the SM2 algorithm certificate authentication is eliminated, and multiple key generation centers are involved in key generation, making it more suitable for Industrial IoT scenarios. Finally, We use a hybrid encryption algorithm of SM2 and SM4 for encrypting communication data to enhance encryption and decryption speeds while ensuring data security. Experimental results demonstrate that the multi-chain storage structure significantly improves throughput compared to a single-chain structure, while also further enhancing data security.
