Defogging traffic images with adaptive multi-state feature fusion algorithm

Abstract

The quality of traffic images obtained outdoors in foggy weather is poor, and the use of existing algorithms will misestimate the atmospheric light values and transmittance, resulting in color distortion and halo phenomenon in the sky region, so that this paper proposed an adaptive multi-state feature fusion algorithm to remove fog from traffic images. According to the characteristics of the sky area in the foggy traffic images, the method used a light-dark area detection model to divide the sky and non-sky regions, and separately estimated the corresponding atmospheric light values to eliminate color distortion. At the same time, it created a multi-scale image decomposition model to automatically discover multi-state features pixel by pixel, and further based adaptive feature fusion strategy to highlight locally significant features and recombining the features, refining the precise transmission diagram, to solve the halo effect. The experimental results show that the visual effect of the new algorithm is real, the objective evaluation index is better than other classical algorithms, and is the shortest compared to time. The algorithm effectively solves color distortion and halo effect, satisfies fast speed and high precision requirements, and has important application value in the field of intelligent traffic construction.
