Side information generation algorithm based on deep learning OFI

Abstract

In distributed video coding(DVC), generating high-quality side information and improving decoding performance in various sports scenes is a crucial research area. This paper proposed a deep learning optical flow interpolation(OFI) side information generation algorithm. The encoder used interval overlapped distributed arithmetic codes(DAC) to encode the video. The decoder extracted the decoded key frames and inputted them into the optical flow interpolation network for side information generation. The network used a multi-layer optical flow module to generate optical flow, and used the optical flow to warp key frames to generate a preliminary side information estimation, and then underwent a fusion process to eliminate occlusion to produce more refined results. Finally, the side information assisted the decoding tree to complete the decoding. The experimental results show that comparing with the existing method, the PSNR of this method increases up to 2.25 dB, which happens mainly in the linear motion scenes. At the same time, the SSIM increases 0.001 5~0.064 8 in both linear and non-linear scenes. The decoded video rate-distortion curve shows consistent results. It proves that the algorithm can improve the estimation of linear motion side information, and it also has excellent robustness on the structure of non-linear motion side information.
