Hardware Trojan detection based on weighted parameter Mahalanobis distance

Abstract

In view of the low detection rate or failure of the conventional Mahalanobis distance discrimination method for hardware Trojan horse, this paper proposed an optimized discrimination scheme based on weighting and two parameter transformation by modeling and analyzing the power consumption characteristics of the chip during operation. Firstly, it adjusted the standard parameters and the sample matrix to be tested, and added the weight of the sample matrix eigenvector into the discriminant formula, and realized the optimal combination of parameters by MATLAB. Finally, it calculated the detection rate of hardware Trojan horse of the sample to be tested under the condition of 99% confidence. This paper implanted 0.3% hardware Trojan horse into the FPGA to be tested, and verified by FPGA hardware Trojan detection platform. The results show that the detection rate of this method reaches 85.14% when the detection rate of conventional Mahalanobis distance discrimination method is only 43.56%.
