Load balancing mechanism using multi-granularity rough set attribute reduction and TOPSIS for IPv6

Abstract

In the field of proxy mobile IPv6(PMIPv6) protocol, the association between mobile node(MN) and specific mobile access gateway(MAG) in PMIPv6 network will increase the load probability of MAG. Based on cluster proxy mobile IPv6(CSPMIPv6) protocol, this paper proposed a load balancing method using attribute reduction of multi-granularity rough set. First, based on the method of attribute reduction of multi granularity rough set, considering the influence of different attribute subsequences on the partition results, it used MAG to change the handover mobile node(HMN) of its connection. Then, it improved the technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution(TOPSIS) to determine the target MAG. Finally, the experiment verified that the signal in CSPMIPv6 has been enhanced, which verified the proposed load balancing mechanism. Compared with group-based handover control scheme for PMIPv6(GB-PMIPv6) and ticket-based binding update(TBU) protocol, the proposed mechanism can better adapt to internal handover and signal changes when the load rate increases, and reduce the failure rate. Compared with GB-PMIPv6 mechanism, the average queuing delay, handover delay, end-to-end delay and packet loss of the new mechanism can be reduced by 9.09%, 19.78%, 10.20%, 6.43%, respectively. The transmission rate can be increased by 8.89%, which significantly improves the system performance.
