Optimization and parallel strategy of improved CK-means

Abstract

Under the background of big data, K-means has local optimum solution and slow clustering speed caused by choosing centroid. The paper developed a new clustering optimization and parallel algorithm CK-means based on K-means. For algorithm optimization, Canopy algorithm could determine the number of clusters k and select the initial centroid. For parallelization acceleration, Flink platform could help to design a parallel acceleration strategy for CK-means. It also could analyze the impact of different parallelism degrees on computing time-consuming. Experiments show that CK-means algorithm has higher accuracy and better performance. The performance ratio in the iris data set is increased by 44.79%, and the performance ratio in the wine dataset is improved by 32.03%. The clustering time of CK-means algorithm under different parallelism degrees decreases first and then rises, and the minimum clustering time is related to the size of the data set.
