Adaptive mechanism to address mobility in ICN

Abstract

ICN inherently supports the mobility of interest requester but doesn't support that of content provider which happens in the actual applications. However, the current solutions on mobility has some limitations to be improved, such as without the join or leave of mobile devices consideration, too simple to address all mobile scenarios and consuming large handoff delay. Therefore, oriented domain division, this paper proposed an adaptive mechanism to address mobility, including intra-domain solution based on rendezvous point, inter-domain solution based on interest forwarding and inter-base station based on backtrack. The simulation was made on GTS network topology. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed mechanism has better performance than the baseline in terms of delivery ratio, handoff delay and routing hops. In addition, it indicates that the proposed mobility mechanism has the wide application value and practical significance, especially for promoting the comprehensive achievement of 5G.
