Efficient and fast UAV Ad hoc network gateway switching algorithm

Abstract

For the issues that adverse effects of sudden failure of Ad hoc gateway nodes on network performance and network reliability of unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV), this paper proposed an efficient and fast UAV Ad hoc network gateway switching algorithm. Firstly, it designed the selection mechanism of backup gateway, and selected the backup gateway node by considering the distance between gateway node and neighbor node. Secondly, it improved the mechanism of gateway failure identification, and the backup gateway could detect the failure of gateway node more quickly. Finally, it proposed an efficient and fast handoff mechanism of UAV Ad hoc gateway, which reduced the failure time of gateway. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can be reduced. The failure time of UAV Ad hoc gateway improves the reliability of UAV network and improves the performance of delay and throughput.
