Marginal theory based radio resource allocation in wireless powered body area network

Abstract

Radio frequency(RF) energy harvesting technology can fundamentally break the battery limitation of wireless body area network. For improving the efficiency and fairness of network resource allocation, this paper proposed a marginal utility theory based network resource allocation method. Firstly, it designed the utility function to map the achievable throughput to a satisfaction level of quality of service(QoS). Then, for maximizing the sum-utility of all the sensor nodes in the network, it modelled the efficient and fair resource allocation problem as a sum-utility maximization problem. By using the dual decomposition method, it finally got the optimal solution to the proposed problem in close form. In comparison to the sum-throughput maximization and sigmoid utility maximization methods, the simulation results show that the proposed method can acquire great system sum-throughput while ensuring the throughput allocation for the sensor nodes.
